The guesthouse is reconstructed from
the ruins of the old farm called Les Liards. Its reconstruction
is done in such a way that its original architecture and history
are fully respected. Also the building tradition and environment
are respected, by using traditional, and/or non-polluting materials
(for example chalk, wood, stones, loam, natural pigments).
Les Liards has always been a place where people meet that have
a personal attachment to the old farm and those that are interested
in the most beautiful places of the region. The guesthouse has
succeeded to reinforce this function by offering its services
in a warm and friendly environment, accommodating harmoniously
the local population, tourists and people of all ages.

a romantic dinner for two, a reunification with old friends,
or whether you would like to organise a well animated birthday

Auberge Les Liards has been created by Astrid Ursem and
Walter Verhoeve. They will look after you with
their sons Tim and Rik. As development workers, Astrid and Walter
have been living in various countries al over the world, before
settling down at Les Liards. They took along their souvenirs
from Asia and Africa, amongst which some very original and appetising
recipes and also art objects that they displayed in and around
their guesthouse. That's why you will find this touch of exoticism
in this truly Auvergne environment.
Les Liards is at 1.4 Km distance from
the village called Egliseneuve des Liards. At an altitude of
780 meters, in the west part of the Livradois, its environments
of middle mountains lend itself perfectly for all sorts of hiking,
either by foot, horse or (mountain) bike. Egliseneuve des Liards
itself spreads a sphere of authenticity and calm that are so
typical for the rural life in the Auvergne. It's on the 21st
of June (national music day) and the 15th of August, when the
village transforms into a vibrant centre of activities. Its
"Fête Patrimoinale" (15/8) brings in thousands of
visitors from all over who come to visit the large numbers of stands for regional
food and collector's items.

volcanoes. One of the major assets of Auberge Les Liards is
that it is situated on the slopes of yet another volcano ("Puy
de Liards"), from where you have an undisturbed view
on the full range of the famous volcanoes, from the "Puy
de Dôme" until the "Plomb de Cantal". Around
the longest day of the year, and if the weather allows, you
will observe a most impressive sunset just behind the "Puy
de Dome".

wild, where other parts are agricultural or forest lands.
